Hot tiny tuner – the Steeda Ford Fiesta
It’s already begun. The Ford Fiesta, soon set to take North America by storm, has been massaged by a key aftermarket performance player. The 2011 Steeda and Ford Racing Sport Edition Ford Fiesta was out for exhibit at the recent North American International Auto Show, amidst many of its original-equipped and tuner siblings. This Steeda Ford Fiesta does well to take a zippy & fun little Ford and bump the excitement factor up a few notches. Keep reading to see just what’s been done!
The Steeda Ford Fiesta is the result of a joint operation between Steeda Autosports and Ford Racing to take the 2011 Ford Fiesta platform and transform it into a viable performance and handling product. Both teams spent many hours in design, testing, and refinement in order to come up with a car worthy of both parties’ badges.
A starting point of a base 2011 Ford Fiesta, equipped with the 1.6-liter TiVCT I4 engine & a 5-speed manual gearbox, takes upon a newly-developed Steeda cold air intake, a Steeda short throw shifter, and most significantly, a full Steeda suspension.
The array of underparts offered by Steeda for the new Ford Fiesta includes:
- Adjustable front coil-over springs (38mm range)
- Rear spring adjusters (38mm range)
- Re-tuned dampers and spring rates
- Anti-roll bars for increased stiffness
- Front strut tower brace for increased chassis rigidity
In addition to the raw corner-carving components above, the Steeda Ford Fiesta will also incorporate an all-new Brembo braking system to replace the stock front discs and the rear drum braking systems to convert to high performance discs on all four corners.
Additional options for the upcoming Ford Fiesta tuner car include:
- Borla performance cat-back exhaust system
- Ford Custom Accessories upper rear hatch spoiler
- Custom blacked out headlamps and front fascia LED bezels
Keep your eyes peeled, everyone! This little tuner car a la Steeda/Ford Racing is going to help establish a cool aftermarket tuner trend for the domestic compact segment. The only bad part? We have to wait until this summer to see just what this little car (and other tuners) can do…
