Ford Fiesta Excitement Continues, Ordering Starts Monday
While the deliveries for the 2011 Ford Fiesta aren’t slated until sometime this summer, Ford is letting us get our hands on options, trims, and pricing very soon; orders will start being accepted this coming Monday! Over 6,000 people have already put reservations in on the new little tuner car before the ordering date was even established. That’s pretty exciting to say the least. What’s more interesting is the fact that there are well over 100,000 people coined as handraisers–those claiming a strong interest in the new fuel-efficient, tech-ladenFord offering.
Beginning this Monday, February 15th, 2010, new and existing Ford customers can officially put their money where their mouth is and place official orders for the new 2011 Ford Fiesta, which promises to bring on a best-in-class highway fuel economy rating of 40mpg and will wrap itself around 15 class-exclusive technologies the competition only wishes it could drum up.
The Ford Reservations program tied to the new Ford Fiesta is giving market researchers a leg-up on what it is people are interested in before the official product launch. The results thus far? Almost 60% of customers are going for high-end options and about 65% of interested parties are going for the 5-door hatchback over the 3-door coupe. The hues to choose? People are fawning over the Blue Flame and Lime Squeeze eye candy so far.
“People saw the Fiesta come to life through the Fiesta Movement, a program where 100 young trendsetters drove a European-spec Ford Fiesta for six months, which created tremendous interest for the vehicle,” said Sam De La Garza, Fiesta brand manager. “That interest now has translated into 6,000 reservations from interested consumers who can build and price their Fiesta.”
Overall, it isn’t just Ford fans flocking to the fledgling Fiesta. More than half of the reservations for the inaugural 2011 model are non-Ford owners, cutting their ties from makes such as Honda, Toyota, Jeep, and Saturn. As a result, the total reservations from customers currently driving European and Japanese import brands outnumber the total reservations currently held by two to one. Advantage: Ford. That’s awesome.
So where is the interest? We know who is wanting one. Where are they at? So far, the distribution of interest is spread about all 50 states. California, often proclaimed as being “cutting edge” with respect to environmental issues, leads the reservation count with ease. Some other states helping fill out the top ten reservations for the 2011 Fiesta are Michigan, Florida, New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
What’s more, the Fiesta Reservations program is past a normal marketing tool; it is allowing customers to build, price, trick-out, and ultimately reserve their very own 2011 Ford Fiesta, while giving them a direct, VIP treatment in conjunction with distributing Ford dealerships.
