Ford Fiesta and its media onslaught

 May 22nd 2010

Social media. Printed media. TV advertising. Promotional spots. Celebrity involvement. Rally racing. Is there any marketing venue Ford has left out pertaining to pumping up the volume about the 2011 Ford Fiesta? We don’t think so. The next item on the ticket is a far-reaching ad campaign with the theme “It’s a pretty big deal”. This latest push by Ford is aimed at capitalizing the success of its past consumer engagements and take it to the next level (if there is one!). Between the Ford Fiesta’s tech toys, its design & engineering features, and its overall charismatic appeal, it seems like this little car will truly end up being a big deal.

Design Factory unveils classic Ford Fiesta art

 May 20th 2010

OK, OK.  You all know about the new 2011 Ford Fiesta based upon all the scoop we’ve brought you over the past several months.  Now, we’d like to take a step back and pay homage to the Fiesta moniker.  To help in this initiative, the good folks at Design Factory Art have recently completed their authentic 1978 Fiesta Project Car ©2000 print and we are pumped to tell you a bit about it.  This classic project car design stems from a base model, upgraded to roll on Panasport 13″ wheels, upgraded suspension components, Cibie lights, front air dam & rear spoiler, a European grille & headlights, and Recaro seats.

These prints are sized at 10″ x 18″, are spun in a run of just 250 units, and go for a measly price tag of just $40.

Ford Fiesta officially rated at 40mpg highway

 May 17th 2010

Ford has been saying it for some now and they’ve finally gone and done it.  It’s now proven the 2011 Ford Fiesta can achieve 40 miles per gallon on the highway and 29 miles per gallon in the city.  This bar-setting EPA certification arrives in conjunction with the cross-country American Journey road trip a couple of (lucky) agents are taking part in.

The new Ford Fiesta achieves this class-leading, fuel sipping feat with a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission and Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (TiVCT), electric power assist steering, aggressive deceleration fuel shutoff, and improved aerodynamics.  What’s more, the all-new Fiesta now joins the likes of several other Ford class-leading fuel economy nobles such as the Fusion Hybrid, the Ford Escape & Mercury Mariner hybrids, the Ford Ranger, the Ford Mustang (v6), and the Super Duty F-Series truck.

Meet AJ the Ford Fiesta!

 May 17th 2010

People have participated in social media venues posing as pets, as fictitious figures, and yes, even as Ferris Bueller.  Ford, from the best we can tell, has become the first car manufacturer to represent one of their vehicles en persona online.  @AJtheFiesta is a Twitter account to be followed if you are interested in seeing the world, or at least the roadways, through a car’s eyes.  Ford’s trip, dubbed the American Journey 2.0, is a detailed research project involving social media integration, students from the University of Michigan, and automotive-centric, cloud-based applications.  Their mission?  Demonstrate the true technical capabilities of the new Ford Fiesta and its associative automotive and Internet based applications.  How do they plan on doing it?  Keep reading to get the full scoop straight from the Ford Press Release.

How can a Ford Fiesta beat a Lamborghini?

 May 14th 2010

OK, so before you get totally excited…NO, the Ford Fiesta cannot beat a Lamborghini Gallardo in a straight-shot race. That said, it’s fair enough to consider the fact that the feisty, lightfooted Fiesta is no stranger to tight corners and exercises a few “tricks” in order to defeat the Gallardo…maybe.

Check out the video after the jump and watch this one for yourself. Good stuff!

Woo-hoo!  Ford has officially kicked off the 2011 Ford Fiesta production at the newly remodeled Cuautitlán Stamping and Assembly Plant (CSAP) in Mexico.  We told you just days ago that Ford set a production record in Europe with over 6 million units churned out; now, the Fiesta is being produced for us right here in North America.  The CSAP plant will produce two versions of the 2011 Fiesta: the 4-door sedan and the 5-door hatchback–both set to take the continent by storm.  Cuautitlán was recently converted from a truck plant and has sponsored about 2,000 jobs tied directly to production with another 6,000 jobs on the ancillary.

Ford Fiesta Movement drums up local band scene

 May 3rd 2010

Ford has done one thing very well with the 2011 Ford Fiesta and most of America hasn’t even touched, let alone seen (in person) the car yet.  The ford initiatives wrapped into the Fiesta Movement have made strides for other companies to take note of and if they are smart, benchmark.  The Fiesta Movement is a rapid-fire nationwide media push to promote 2011 Fiesta launch in the United States.  Chapter 2 conscripts 20 pairs of official agents and puts them on the pavement in their local communities in order to execute special involvement missions.  The first Fiesta Movement mission in Chapter 2 was to “bring it local” and commemorate their city’s reputation via murals and popular points of interest.  This 2nd mission has tapped agents to find a local musician, band, or comedian and work toward building the entertainers’ street cred within the community.

“We Are the Dreamers of Dreams” is the aptly applied title for this official second chapter in the Fiesta Movement and much of the ammunition for the mission’s success will come from the agents’ innovation, the Ford Fiesta’s allure, and local radio station broadcasting.  During the mission, the agents will chronicle their pursuits and post the details on their event page where Fiesta fans & followers can keep tabs on all the action.  Be sure to check out www.fiestamovement2.com for all the latest on the agents’ progress in this exciting new mission and keep reading to get a list of all the Fiesta agents, cities, entertainer & band names, as well as the radio stations providing promotional assistance.

2011 Ford Fiesta first drive

 Apr 27th 2010

As we inch closer and closer to the official 2011 Ford Fiesta launch here in the US, the excitement continues to simmer with sensation.  Just days ago, Ford Motor Company invited several members of the media out to the San Francisco Bay area to put the Ford Fiesta through its paces and subsequently share their thoughts on the car.  Overall, the men and women testing Ford’s fantastic feat-to-be decided the car is going to be a great success when it hits the marketplace.  If it isn’t, well then, we know there are more things wrong with America than what meets the eye.  With commentary such as “durability”, “tech-laden”, “competitive”, and many more keen kudos, we have to concede the US-spec Ford Fiesta is going to be a hit.  Why?  Examine the competition while your heart is still beating, and you’ll find the answer within minutes; the competition is lame.

Keep reading to get a sampling of just what the media team thought of the new 2011 Ford Fiesta.  We cannot wait to see this car launch!
